Art Journal Pages
Some pages from my art journals. Often when I start a page, I don’t have much of a plan, so am constantly surprised by how they turn out. I encourage you to have a go at art journalling. You may become hooked!

I journal to relax, hoping to switch off my analytical mind for a while and go with the flow. I can play with colours and experiment with techniques without being too concerned about the outcome. If I don’t like a page initially, I know I can go back over it and try something else. If all else fails, I glue something over the top.
I don’t write a lot in these journals. I thought I would, but discovered I’m more into the art aspect than writing. I want my journals to be happy ‘places’. Sometimes I use a page to have a grumble but then disguise the words, so turning a negative into a positive.
These pages are quite small, from A5 and A6 notebooks. I use all sorts of pens and pencils, including felt tips, Copic markers, water colour pencils, gel pens and Posca paint markers. In the past whenever I tried a new art medium I was drawn to the same bright colours but now I’ve realised I need the pale muted colours as well, to balance things out. It’s all a learning curve, and a fun one!
